It is powered by Sun's Constellation System, which is a system-level innovation that builds on cost-effective, off-the-shelf components and state-of-the-art technologies, and delivers an open, petascale architecture. Ranger ushers in the new era of "petascale" computing in which high performance supercomputers approach one petaflop (one quadrillion floating point instructions) per second. Visit the Sun Booth to learn more about Sun's powerful HPC platform, which can help you get ahead of the competition. R & D Exhibits Multi-Organisation Grid Accounting System (MOGAS) The Multi-Organizational Grid Accounting System (MOGAS) monitors, meters and accounts for the resource usage in a collaborative Grid environment. MOGAS is able to capture the Grid jobs' resource usage information, organize the information and store information in database, and support analyzing as well as Web-based visualization. MOGAS sits on top of the Globus Toolkit middleware and adds logging utility to the Globus Resource Allocation Manager (GRAM) module. Resource usage information, including job start time, finish time, CPU time, memory usage, user account name and etc, is logged down for each job. The job log files are aggregated and sent to update the central data base server. The resource usage is then analyzed in user/organization/country level and the summary is displayed through web interface. Sensor Grid for the Sumatran cGPS Array (SuGAr) The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) is a new Research Centre of Excellence on earth sciences at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU). EOS will address natural hazards and processes such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and climate change in the Southeast Asia region. The Sumatran cGPS Array (SuGAr) is a continuous GPS network operated by the EOS with 29 GPS stations deployed along the Sumatran Plate boundary. It serves as the main GPS data source for the Sumatran Plate Boundary Project, which is a multi-disciplinary effort to understand tectonic processes at a plate boundary dominated by the oblique convergence of oceanic and continental plates. We are developing a prototype sensor grid to support SuGAr. The sensor grid collects data from the GPS stations and provides tools for efficient archival, publishing, querying, processing and visualization of the data. Asia-Pacific Environmental Sensor Grid The Lima declaration after the sixth APEC Minister Meeting on the Telecommunications and Information Industry (TELMIN6) encouraged the application of ICT for disaster/emergency detection, mitigation, response, and recovery. The Asia-Pacific Environmental Sensor Grid collects and manages data from sensors or monitoring systems in the participating APEC economies. The development and usage of the APEC Environmental Sensor Grid may provide a knowledge base and early warning capabilities to mitigate future environmental disasters in the Asia-Pacific region. The development also provides a conduit between ICT specialists, scientists, and policy makers to share and to exchange expertise and experience. At present, the prototype of the APEC Environmental Sensor Grid consists of around 200 sensors, including weather stations, air quality sensors and seismic sensors, from the National Weather Study Project (NWSP) from Singapore and the Live! project from Japan. Various exhibits from IHPC Established in April 1998, IHPC is a Research Institute under the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), IHPC promotes and spearhead scientific advances and technological innovations through computational modelling, simulation and visualization methodologies and tools. This exhibit is a demonstration of an open software platform of Fusionopolis to integrate share, and provision ubiquitous access to the state-of-the-art infocomm and scientific technologies within A*STAR. EUAsiaGrid The EUAsiaGrid aims to support the EU Research Infrastructures FP7 Programme by "promoting international interoperation between similar infrastructures with the aim of reinforcing the global relevance and impact of European e-Infrastructures". The project's main goal will be to pave the way towards an Asian e-Science Grid Infrastructure, in synergy with the other European Grid initiatives in Asia, namely EGEE-III via its Asia Federation, and both the EUChinaGRID and EU-IndiaGRID projects and their eventual follow on efforts. Taking advantage of the existing global Grid technologies, with the specific emphasis on the European experience with the gLite middleware and applications running on top of it, the project plans to encourage federating approaches across scientific disciplines and communities. EUAsiaGrid will act as a support action, aiming to define and implement a policy to promote the gLite middleware developed within the EU EGEE project across Asian countries. EUAsiaGrid main actions will be to spread dissemination, provide training, support scientific applications and monitor the results. Korean National Grid Project (K*Grid) KISTI, as a primary national provider of science and technology infrastructure, has carried out a national grid project named K*Grid from 2002. The main objective of K*Grid project is to provide an extremely powerful research environment to high performance computing applications from both industries and academia. To achieve the goal, we are constructing a tera-scale national grid infrastructure with the advanced grid technologies. Especially, the research and development of grid middleware are being carried out to improve the quality of services of grid infrastructure. At the GridAsia2008 exhibition, KISTI will show a couple of achievements in researches of grid softwares from K*Grid. The posters and demos will be given to explain about grid middleware developments for the HPC grid(KMI) and the PC grid(Korea@Home). |
