Grid Asia 2007

History

In 2005, the inaugural GridAsia was launched by National Grid Office (NGO), with Mr. Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade and Industry, as the Guest of Honour.

GridAsia 2007 is the third event in the series, and it is being jointly organized by Agency for Science, Technology And Research (A*STAR), Infocomm Development Authority (IDA), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), NGO, National University of Singapore (NUS), and Singapore Management University (SMU).

As in previous years, we expect a total turnout of more than 600 delegates to participate in the conference, workshops, tutorials, presentations and special session discussions, fostering active interchange of research ideas and experience. The programme and social events lined up will provide an invigorating brew of networking opportunities.

With the ardent support of industry in sponsorship, providing speakers and panelists as well as organizing co-located workshops, the previous two GridAsia events were resounding successes. Of the 671 attendees in 2006, 41% came from 32 countries - as near as Malaysia, Thailand and Australia to as far as USA, Switzerland and Russia.

This series with the Grid Computing theme caters to everyone keen on Grid, from interested individuals, practitioners and user organizations in business and industry, to the research and development community. GridAsia is already a major annual event for the region. It will continue to bring together researchers and practitioners in Grid Computing as well as related technologies and applications.

GridAsia is increasingly becoming an important platform to enable attendees and participants to share experiences, discuss their research findings, network and explore opportunities for collaboration. Delegates are expected to come from local and overseas academia, research institutes and laboratories, both in the public and industry sectors (such as biomedical, digital media, physical sciences and manufacturing).
